Cuban Gar (Atractosteus tristoechus)
The Cuban Gar is a rare and impressive prehistoric predator native to Cuba. With its elongated body, armored ganoid scales, broad snout, and powerful appearance, it makes an incredible centerpiece for experienced monster-fish keepers.
Cuban Gar are ambush predators and should be housed in a very large aquarium with plenty of open swimming space. They are best kept with other large, robust fish that cannot fit into their mouth. Avoid small tankmates.
